Boulies MagVida Desk & Fit Chair: Premium Desk Setup Review

In this review, I upgrade my studio desk setup with the Boulies MagVida & Boulies Fit Chair. You can buy the Boulies Fit from £599.99 or $1250AUD directly from Boulies UK/AU – https://bit.ly/bouliesfit, and the Boulies MagVida from Boulies US/UK $699.99 or £549.99 – https://bit.ly/bouliesmagvida.

TLDR: The Boulies Fit Pro chair and Magvida standing desk offer a clean, modern upgrade with premium finishes and smart features—ideal for users seeking function and design, though not without a few compromises.

I’ve had the same standing desk and chair for a while now, and I felt it was time for an upgrade. In this review, I’ve partnered with Boulies, who kindly supplied their Fit minimalist ergonomic office chair and the new MagVida standing desk. If you’re looking to upgrade your office or studio space, these two products from Boulies may be worth checking out.

Boulies Fit Chair

Originally named the Fit Pro, this office chair has evolved into a full-sized model with an adjustable headrest, seat base, and side arms.

Assembly is very simple. The seat and backrest come preinstalled, and you only need to attach the base, riser bar, and casters. Then, place the seat on top and screw in the side arms using the provided tools and screws.

The Boulies Fit is a perfect mashup of minimalist design and ergonomic functionality

The chair comes in up to three colours and two material options: fabric and Nappa leather. The one featured in this review is the brown Nappa leather model. It’s a tall-back design, which I found slightly frustrating as Boulies has discontinued the short-back version, which would have been a better fit for my setup—contrary to what their marketing images might suggest.

Despite this, the chair doesn’t feel as overwhelming as a traditional gaming chair. Thanks to its minimalist design and narrow side profile, it maintains a sleek presence, yet it still includes enough comfortable padding on both the seat and back panels.

Adjustment and Ergonomics

Adjustability is key for a chair you’ll be using for hours at a time, and the Fit Pro does not disappoint. It includes adjustable headrest, armrests, seat height and depth, lumbar support, and recline angle.

One standout feature is the method of making these adjustments. Instead of the usual pull-and-lift metal levers that are awkward to reach, Boulies has placed easy-to-access grab levers on the left side of the seat cushion. Simply lift, adjust, and release. No leaning, no fumbling—it’s very user-friendly.

The Boulies Fit offers lots of adjustment that’s also easy to reach

That said, the lumbar support lever is less intuitive. It feels more like a flat bar sandwiched between the back padding, and it must be awkwardly pushed up or down to set your lumbar preference. It’s a minimal support system that works fine for some, but those who need stronger ergonomic adjustment may need to look elsewhere.

The armrests are another area of concern. While they offer plenty of flexibility—adjusting up/down, side to side, and forward/back—the mechanism is too loose. Every time you enter or exit the chair, they move, and there’s no locking mechanism to prevent this. A button-based adjustment system would have been much preferred.

My Impressions

The Boulies Fit Pro chair starts at £599.99 for the fabric option and £799.99 for the Nappa leather version. While this places it in the premium price range, it doesn’t quite match the level of ergonomics offered by other chairs in its bracket. That said, for those seeking a clean, minimalist aesthetic with ample comfort and adjustment, it’s a worthy option.

With all the small issues mentioned, the Boulies Fit remains a well-designed office chair that blends sleek looks with practical comfort. The Nappa leather adds a premium touch—though it comes at a £200 premium. The fabric version may offer similar comfort at a more affordable price. I’m personally just disappointed that the short-back version is no longer available.

Boulies MagVida Standing Desk

Although I was content with my previous standing desk—a DIY blend of a standing frame and a kitchen worktop off-cut—managing cables and finding compatible drawers was always a chore. It was time for an upgrade, and the MagVida was a definite step up.

You get everything you need in the box: the 140 x 70 cm tabletop (black or white), the pre-attached steel frame, two legs with built-in motors, base feet, all necessary screws and tools, power cables, and a control panel.

The MagVida desk is assembled in just 18 minutes, thanks to the preinstalled metal frame

Assembly and Setup

Assembly is straightforward. The desk is heavy due to its steel frame and components, so having two people to build it is ideal. I managed to build it solo in about 18 minutes, following the clearly illustrated instructions.

The desk’s controller is a small display unit mounted under the tabletop using pre-drilled holes. It features up and down buttons, three memory presets, and a save function. I programmed positions 1 and 2 for sitting and standing heights, while position 3 can be used for a higher elevation or clearing chair arms. A child lock can be toggled by pressing both up and down buttons simultaneously.

The controller features micro adjustment, 3 memory presets and a child lock function

I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the dual motors were—only 45 decibels, which is noticeably quieter than my old desk. With a 120kg weight capacity, the desk easily lifted my weight before any equipment was installed. It adjusts smoothly from 61.5 cm to 127 cm at a rate of 32 mm/s. The smaller motor size also improves cable management space underneath.

Cable Management and Magnetic Accessories

At the centre of the frame is a power hub that connects to each leg motor and the controller. This could be neater—it requires three cables instead of one, making it harder to tidy away.

Fortunately, the MagVida desk comes with three magnetic silicone clips to help organise cables. I used these to secure the controller wire and power lead. I’d recommend purchasing an additional set if you have more peripherals to manage.

The MagVida standing desk looks every bit the part and feels, and sounds premium

Accessories also included are a magnetic cable tray and a hook. The tray is especially helpful for hiding monitor power bricks and cable clutter. While it works well, I would have preferred a slightly longer version with a more secure hook system rather than the loose magnetic attachment.

The magnetic hook is great for hanging headphones. Since it’s magnetic, it can be repositioned anywhere on the metal frame, which is a great touch for future upgrades.

Magnetic Drawer and Surface Finish

Another accessory add-on is the magnetic drawer. I was curious to test its size and strength. The drawer is compact—ideal for storing stationery and small items—but I’d prefer a larger A4 or even A3-sized drawer if the magnets could support the weight. Its construction is solid, with smooth runners and a sturdy closing mechanism.

Its compact magnetic draw size limits this accessory’s overall versatility

I chose the black tabletop, which suits my office, but it does show dust and smudges easily. The surface has a slightly textured vinyl finish that looks premium, but it’s prone to scratches. I would recommend taking care with sharp objects, as the black finish can highlight damage. While you could rewrap the surface or replace it, you’d lose the benefits of the magnetic accessory system.

My Impressions

At a current sale price of £549.99, the MagVida desk is priced at the higher end of the market. Its standout feature is the magnetic accessory system, which genuinely improves usability and aesthetics. However, at this price, I would have expected built-in USB-C ports or wireless charging capabilities to match those of competing offerings.

The MagVida standing desk is a worthy upgrade to any workspace or gaming den

If your budget allows and you’re drawn to its unique magnetic features and refined motor system, the Boulies Magvida standing desk ticks many boxes and makes a solid, stylish upgrade to any workspace.
